Privacy Policy
The Nollywood Index
Effective 24 August 2026
The Nollywood Index is operated by Symbiosis LLC. This policy explains what happens to information when you visit thenollywoodindex.com.
What we collect about you
Nothing. The Index runs no analytics, no tracking scripts, no advertising, and no visitor profiling. We do not set cookies. We do not ask you to create an account, and there is nothing to sign in to.
The site stores no data of any kind. It reads the CineIntel Africa public API to build its pages, and nothing is written to your device in the process.
We do not sell, rent, or share information about you, because we do not hold any.
Cookies and device storage
The Index sets no cookies and uses no device storage of its own. There is no localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, service worker, or cache storage. Nothing is persisted on your device between visits, and nothing is read back from it.
There is no advertising, analytics, profiling, or cross-site tracking of any kind. The site loads no third-party scripts and no tag managers. A title page includes a YouTube player using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which loads nothing and sets no cookies or storage until you choose to play a video. Once you press play, YouTube may set cookies or storage on your device under Google's own privacy policy. There is no fingerprinting, behavioral tracking, or audience measurement.
YouTube data
Statistics retrieved from the YouTube Data API, including view counts, are refreshed regularly and automatically deleted after 30 days. No YouTube statistics older than 30 days are stored by either The Nollywood Index or CineIntel Africa. The Index itself stores no data of any kind; it displays figures read from the CineIntel Africa public API on demand, and every figure carries the date it was observed.
What reaches YouTube
Film artwork on our pages is served by YouTube from its own image servers, and films play in YouTube's embedded player. Loading a page therefore makes requests to Google-operated servers, and those requests carry your internet protocol (IP) address and browser information, as any request to any website does.
We use the privacy-enhanced embed, so the player sets no cookies unless you press play. Once you do, YouTube's own handling applies. What Google does with that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
Fonts and all other page resources are served from our own domain. No requests go to Google Fonts or any other third party.
Where the film data comes from
The catalog is supplied by CineIntel Africa, a Symbiosis LLC platform, through its public application programming interface (API). It consists of publicly available information about films: titles, cast and crew, runtimes, release dates, channel names, and view counts read from the YouTube Data API. Every view count on this site carries the date it was observed. We do not present a figure without saying when it was read.
Filmmakers and rights holders
If you made a film listed here and want a correction, an attribution changed, or your work removed from the Index, write to us, and we will act on it. You do not need to explain why, and you do not need a lawyer to ask.
The Index is free. It carries no advertising, charges nothing, and does not host or stream any film. Every title links back to the film on YouTube.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you rights over personal information held about you, including under the Nigeria Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation. Since we hold no personal information about visitors, we generally have nothing to retrieve, correct, or erase. If you believe otherwise, contact us, and we will look into it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it.
